March 04, 2023
Rajkot: The Resident Additional Collector (RAC) of Rajkot, Ketan Thakar, has fined Zydus Wellness Ltd and Vadilal Industries Ltd Rs. 11.5 lakhs and 5.85 lakhs, respectively. The fines were imposed after laboratory reports of randomly collected product samples did not meet the prescribed standards.
Zydus Wellness’ mixed fat spread was found to have a higher acidic value, while an ice cream flavour of Vadilal had less fat than the prescribed limits. As a result, both products were declared substandard, and the companies were fined under the Food and Standards Act of 2006. DeshGujarat
