Gujarat Maritime Board may surpass 2019-20 cargo traffic level
January 30, 2023
Gandhinagar: As of December, the Gujarat Maritime Board, which handles 48 non-major posts of the state, had handled 308.9 million tonnes of cargo for the year 2022-23. With an average of 35 million tonnes per month, total cargo is expected to exceed the 411 million tonnes achieved in 2019-20.
A GMB official told the media, “GMB’s ports and jetties have seen a 2.69% increase in traffic in the April-December period from last year. The monthly traffic was around 35 million tonnes, so we expect to surpass 411 million tonnes in 2019-20.”
If the cargo handled this financial year surpasses the cargo handled in 2019-20, it will be the highest-ever level of cargo handled by GMB. DeshGujarat
