Paper cups to be banned in Ahmedabad form Jan 20
January 17, 2023
Amdavad: The roadside tea will not be served in paper cups from now on. After banning plastic, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has banned the usage of paper tea cups in Ahmedabad from January 20.
The civic body announced that after 20th January 2023, AMC will go for a checking campaign. During this, action will be taken against those who sell tea in plastic and paper cups.
Harshad Solanki, Director of AMC’s solid waste management dept, said that for the last 10 days, AMC officials were convincing the vendors and shops to stop using paper cups and they received a positive response.
This decision has come into force as Ahmedabad city disposes of 25 lakh paper cups per day, which causes littering on roads and clogs drains.
He also announced that the department would launch a drive to stop littering at paan shops on January 25, 2023. DeshGujarat
