Gujarat govt to start Rs. 6,315 crore MSP purchase of groundnut, udad, mung, soyabean from farmers

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government will purchase groundnut, mung, udad and soybean on support price (MSP) from Labh Pancham, the fifth day of Gujarati new year. The purchase will be done under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) of year 2022-23.

The centre has fixed MSP for groundnut at Rs. 5,850, mung – Rs. 7,755, Udad – Rs. 6600 and Soybean – Rs. 4,300 per quintal.

For Kharif 2022, the central government has approved MSP purchase of

-9,79,000 mt groundnut (Rs. 5,729 crore),

-9,588 mt mung (Rs. 76 crore),

-23,872 mt udad (Rs. 158 crore) and

-81,820 mt soyabean (Rs. 352 crore) at support price of total Rs. 6,315 crore directly from farmers.

About 3.50 lakh farmers from across Gujarat will benefit with this purchase which shall take place across 160 purchase centres. GUJCOMASOL has been appointed as a nodal agency for purchase of groundnut for extending help to the central nodal agency. The farmers will be informed through SMC or telephone call for purchase of their crops one-by-one. The money shall be deposited directly to their bank accounts.

Agriculture minister Raghavji Patel will kickstart the purchase from Rajkot on 29 October. DeshGujarat
