Govt to bring Data Centre & Cloud policy, Digital India Act: MoS Rajeev C in Rajkot, Gujarat

Rajkot: Minister of State for Electronics and IT in the Centre Rajeev Chandrashekhar said in Rajkot today said the government will come out with a policy for National Data Centre and Cloud and also bring a new ‘Digital India’ law.

While interacting with the students, he said while addressing at Rajkot today – “We will announce National Data Centre & Cloud policy in the next couple of months as we want to achieve a 20 fold boost. We will incentivize green energy sources for data centres.”

The minister also said that the government is going to bring ‘Digital India’ law. He added that the existing IT law is 22-year old with no mention of internet”

“Investment will not come in the State that have no green energy strategy. In my opinion, the FAB proposal going to Dholera (Gujarat), as investors believe Gujarat has got a very sound sustainable energy strategy”, he said.

He said, ” 90% of mobile phones consumed in India were imported in 2014 (when Modi ji became Prime Minister) . Today 97% of all mobile phones used in India are made in India. In 2014, total electronics production in India was 1 lakh crore. PM Modi ji will take it to 26 lakh crore in 2025-26. In 2014, the export of Mobile phones from India was zero. In 2022, India exports Rs. 50,000 crore mobile phones.”

Speaking about INS Vikrant, the minister said – “Only 3 – 4countries are capable to do this. INS Vikrant doesn’t just involve mega engineering but it has micro electronics and censors developed in India. There are thousands of electronics systems in it that are designed by Indian manufactures.”
