Sabarmati Riverfront lower promenade to be closed for visitors again
August 24, 2022
Sabarmati: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to shut the lower promenade of Sabarmati Riverfront once again from 9.30 am on August 24 on both sides – West and East for visitors.
The decision has been taken in the wake of over 76,000 cusecs release of water downstream of river Sabarmati from North Gujarat based Dharoi dam. This detail was shared by Executive Director of Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Limited, Mr. IK Patel (Retired IAS). At 2 am today, the outflow in riverbed from Dharoi dam was over 78,000 cusecs. Post 3 am it was around 66,000 cusecs.
At 7 am today, nearly 66,000 cusecs water was being released from Dharoi dam against inflow of 66.50 cusecs. Dharoi dam was 88.47 percent full with the level of water at 188.68 m against full level of 189.59 m and rule level of 188.67 m. The dam was 88.47 percent full.
It’s worth noting that the lower promenade which is also known as walkway was closed for visitors last week also for less than two days due to water discharged from Dharoi dam. The level in river Sabarmati had however remained below the lower promenade due to discharge from Vasna barrage. DeshGujarat
