Mundra Port narcotics case: Gujarat ATS nabs one from Punjab

Kutch: A man was arrested from Punjab on Sunday in connection to the seizure of heroin worth Rs 376 core by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) near Munda Port on July 12.
As per Prosecutor Kalpesh Goswami, the accused Deepak Kingar was produced before the Special Court of Justice Chirag Shah, who remanded him to the custody of Gujarat ATS till July 27.
The ATS had demanded 14 days of custody but the court granted only 10 days.
The Gujarat ATS on July 12, had seized about 70 kg of heroin worth 376 crores near Mundra port, the consignment containing the drug was coming from the Middle East and was supposed to be delivered at Punjab.
According to the probe agency, “After a close inspection of 540 fabric rolls kept in the container, heroin powder was found inside 64 of them”
Kingar had allegedly imported the fabric rolls in which the drug was hidden to dodge the authorities, informed Prosecutor Goswami.
