July 15, 2022
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad airport on Sunday welcomed a British teenager, Mack Rutherford, who envisions creating a world record by becoming the youngest man to circumnavigate the world.
Mack is flying across the earth in a single-engine plane named Shark Aero Shark UL.
Mack Rutherford, a 16-year-old Belgian- Britsh boy who started his journey near the Bulgarian capital Sofia on March 23rd, is on his way to breaking the Guinness World Record for the youngest person to fly solo across the globe.
Rutherford says, ” I want to use the opportunity to meet young people on my route who do incredible things, making a difference to their communities or even in the world. Often few people know about them. Together we can show that young people make a difference.”
Mack Rutherford’s parents are also pilots who helped Rutherford take control of aircraft at the age of 7, which helped him become the youngest pilot in the world in July 2020 at the age of 15.
Mack’s inspiration for this world voyage is his sister Zara who created history by becoming the youngest woman to fly around the world.
It is also worth mentioning that the current record is being held by 18-year-old Travis Ludlow when he completed a circumnavigation last year.
