Jio becomes the largest landline provider in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: In the span of less than three years, Reliance Jio became the largest landline provider in Gujarat. Since the commercial launch of JioFiber on September 05 2019, Jio has reached over 40 cities, towns and villages of Gujarat with over 4 lakh subscribers.
As per Trai’s latest subscription report, ending on April 30, 2022, the number of fiber to the home (ftth) users of Jio in Gujarat crossed the mark of 4 lakh subscribers for the first time. At the same time, the operator becomes the largest landline provider, surpassing BSNL’s user base of 3.80 lakh.
With the consistently rising demand for high-speed broadband at home, Jio added 20,832 new JioFiber users in April 2022, totalling 4.03 lakh subscribers in Gujarat. In March 2022, landline users of Jio were 3.82 lakh while BSNL was the largest with 3.93 lakh subscribers. The state-owned telecom operator, BSNL lost over 8,000 users in April 2022 which made Jio the largest operator.
By the end of April 2022, the total number of landline users in the state was 10.69 lakh, increased by 7,000 from 10.62 lakh in March 2022. In April 2022, Jio’s customer market share of fixed-line users increased to 37.74% followed by BSNL with 36.05%. Airtel has about 1.56 lakh fixed line users with a market share of 14.61% while Tata Tele has a 7.25% share with over 77,500 users. Vodafone Idea’s landline userbase in April 2022 was over 44,000 with a market share of 4.12%.
Presently, JioFiber has a presence in over 40 towns in Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Morbi, Wadhvan, Gandhinagar, Dholka, Kadi, Mehsana, Unjha, Visnagar, Anand, Nadiad, Bharuch, Dahej, Valsad, Bardoli, Vyara, Bilimora and others. Every month, Jio is adding new towns in the state and expanding its reach.
