Notorious criminal Nikhil Donga escapes from Bhuj hospital

Gondal: Notorious and dreaded criminal Nikhil Donga has escaped prison. Nikhil alias Nikunj alias Niliyo Rameshbhai Donga is accused of organized crime under stringent sections of GUJCTOC. He along with his gang members was nabbed for as many as 11 offenses of crime. Donga was sent to Palara jail in Bhuj from where he was admitted to GK public hospital. During 1.30-3.00 am today, he fled from hospital. Bhuj Police has received leads that Donga’s aides Bhavin Chandubhai Khunt alias Khali and Bharat Ramani assisted his escape.
According to complaint filed under sections 223, 224, 225 of Indian Pinal Code (IPC), in ‘B’ division police station of Bhuj, Nikhil alias Nikunj Donga his aide Bharat, another unidentified aide and cops Ramesh Gagal and rajesh Rathod are accused in this case of escape.
Palara jail had demanded cops to guard four prisoners in hospital. Police persons took four prisoners to GK general hospital on 26 March. Police Sub Inspector Bharwad had informed that out of four, three prisoners were to return to jail but fourth prisoner Nikhil Donga was to be admitted in the hospital as per instruction by a doctor.
At 5.11 am on 29 March, Police Sub Inspector RB Gagal informed that Nikhil Donga was missing. When checked, CCTV cameras of hospital showed that Donga was leaving the hospital Vajpayee gate of hospital at 1.18 am with another person on foot. When checked footage of another camera, they were seen leaving in a car.
According to Sub Inspector Gagal, at around 11.30 pm, he had received a phone call from one Bharat who offered juice/icecream, however police men refused his offer. Bharat and another unidentified person later came near prisoner ward and gave juice to Nikhil Donga and left. Later Gagal and police constable retired to their beds, while Nikhil Donga was on his bed. Stopper of door of prisoner’s ward was shut from inside. Cops went asleep. At around 3 am, they found Nikhil Donga missing and after initial search, contacted senior police officials about this development.
Nikhil Donga is into criminal activities for last 17 years. There are total 117 incidents of crimes in which Donga gang’s involvement has been found. The crimes include extortion, organized gang, snatching properties, hawala, murder, violent attacks, arms act, loot, robbery, breach of trust, threatening and more.
Nikhil Ramesh Donga would operate his gang from Gondal sub jail. A Jailer and five sipahi of Gondal sub jail were suspended for helping Nikhil Donga and others for operation of organized crime from jail. When police raided Gondal sub jail, Donga had hosted lunch for six guests who had entered the jail on his invitation illegally. Police recovered five phones, one dingle, one power bank from sub jail. Police had raided jail after five complains received in application formate claiming that Donga’s gang was harassing people and the gang was operated from prison.
Donga had created a group namely ‘Yuddh ej kalyan’. He would do social activities like blood donation camp in attempt to put cover on his criminal activities. His social media account contains his photos with politicians and others including state cabinet minister Jayesh Radadiya.
Donga entered into the world of crime in early 2000s, with his name in the crime records appearing for the first time in 2003 in Shapar area of Rajkot. He is facing 14 serious offences including murder and attempt of murder. He was in jail in connection with Virpur murder case of year 2013. He was given parole for 19 times for total 329 days for various reasons including illness of his parents. Once he had faked death of his mother to get parole. In 2016, he had not returned from parole and one year, four months and seven days.
Donga was later sent to Palara jail in Bhuj. He escaped from GK general hospital where he was taken for medical treatment. DeshGujarat
