Kamrej Police arrests Alpesh Kathiriya in rioting and atrocity Case

Surat: Special Operation Group (SOG) of Police in Surat has arrested PAAS (Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti) leader Alpesh Kathiria in rioting and atrocity case which was filed against him and others during recently concluded civic elections. Kathiria and others had entered into clash with Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) cadres during polling for civic elections in velanja area of Surat. When Alpesh and his supporters wearing yellow caps were in ward number 02, some BTP workers from their car were capturing Alpesh’s video. When Alpesh inquired who were the persons shooting his video, the persons replied they were from MLA Chhotubhai Vasava’s party BTP. Later BTP cadres alleged that five of them were beaten up and their car was damaged due to attack by Alpesh and others. Injured BTP cadres also took treatment in Civil hospital. In response to a complaint filed by one of those injured – Jekinbhai Sumanbhai Vaava, police has earlier arrested six persons who are sent to police remand as per the court order. SCST cell DySP Bhargav is heading the probe. Alpesh was on bail in connection with other cases. PAAS had worked for Aam Admi Party (AAP) in civic elections resulting into victory of AAP candidates on 27 seats in the areas where PAAS enjoys hold since quota agitation in 2015. DeshGujarat
