BCCI AGM in Gujarat: IPL in 2022 will have 10 teams including two new teams

Ahmedabad: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI)’s today in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) here at Taj Hotel ratified the entry of two new franchises in the IPL to make it a 10-team event from 2022 .Two new teams will be introduced in the 2022 IPL.
In other decisions taken in the AGM here, a veteran Congress leader Rajiv Shukla was officially anointed the Board’s vice president replacing his protege Mahim Verma from Uttarakhand. While Sourav Ganguly will continue as a director in the ICC Board, Secretary Jay Shah will be the alternate director as well as India’s representative at the Chief Executive Committee meets of the global body.
The Board, in principle, decided to support the ICC’s bid for inclusion of T20 format cricket, in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics “after getting some clarifications from the International Olympic Committee”.
The meeting decided that all first-class players, both men and women, will be suitably compensated for the curtailed domestic season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.’
BCCI announces All-India Senior Selection Committee appointments
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Mr Madan Lal, Mr Rudra Pratap Singh and Ms Sulakshana Naik on Thursday met virtually to select three members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee (Men).
The CAC has recommended the following candidates for the senior men’s selection committee panel.
1) Mr Chetan Sharma
2) Mr Abey Kuruvilla
3) Mr Debashish Mohanty
The committee further recommended Mr Chetan Sharma for the role of Chairman of the senior men’s selection committee based on seniority (total number of Test matches). The CAC will review the candidates after a one-year period and make the recommendations to the BCCI.
The three new members will join Mr Sunil Joshi and Mr Harvinder Singh in the selection committee.
