Gandhinagar: Amid speculation rife in media and over social media about some of the Congress MLA’s likely joining the ruling BJP, one of such MLAs in discussion Alpesh Thakor today claimed that there was no truth in speculative news reports that he was going to leave Congress party.
He however did not speak much and said that he would speak in detail in a press conference to be held at 2 pm tomorrow.
He said he heard absurd news from the media friends. ‘It is like I am sleeping in my house and I get a call from a media friend who asks me to confirm if I was in the space,’ he said.
‘I am unaware about the things that were being said. I will not speak anything more now and the media should wait till 2 pm tomorrow for my clarification on each and everything,’ he said.
Notably, speculations about Thakor, who was reportedly annoyed with the current state leadership of Congress, leaving the party to join BJP to be inducted as minister were doing the round for quite some time. Same speculations about Bayad Congress MLA Dhaval Zala and Becharaji MLA Bharat Thakor, who were also reportedly annoyed with the leadership, were also doing the rounds. Both Bechraji and Bayad MLAs are Alpesh aides.
Two MLAs of Congress, Kunvarji Bavaliya and Ashaben Patel have so far joined BJP in last few months.
It is understood that speculations about Congress MLAs joining BJP got momentum as two vacant ministerial chambers in Swarnim Sankul – 2 building were being cleaned and made ready for someone.
