Ahmedabad to host World Robotic Olympiad National Championship 2018

Ahmedabad: Themed “Food Matters”, the National Championship for WRO (World Robot Olympiad) will be held in Ahmedabad on September 15 and 16, 2018 at The Arena by Transtadia. More than 1000 student innovators in the age group of 6 to 25 years will showcase their problem solving skills.Inauguration of the National Championship will take place on 15th September. The World Robotic Olympiad, which is organised by India STEM Foundation has been held across 12 cities in India in 2018 and seen participation of several thousand students.
Speaking about the competition, Sudhanshu Sharma, Founder-Director, India STEM Foundation said, “The competition is divided into three categories – Football Category, Open Category and Regular Category. As part of football category, teams will build and program two autonomous robots at the venue. The robots of 2 teams will have a soccer competition in which the robots will function on the basis of design and instructions coded by students. In the Open category, students will exhibit and present their solution to a real-world concern/issue associated with food production, distribution and management. In the Regular category, students will build and program an autonomous robot that solves a series of ‘Food Matters’ theme tasks on a challenge mat that is pre released by WRO team across the globe.”
The winning teams will be representing India at WRO International Championship to be held from November 16-18, 2018 in Thailand.
World Robotic Olympiad (WRO) India is a global STEM & Robotics competition for students in the age group of 6 to 25 years. WRO aims to inculcate creativity, design and problem solving skills among students at an early age through hands-on activities that are aligned to real world issues. Started in 2004 in Singapore, WRO is now being organized in more than 60 countries across the globe.
