BJP lashes out against Congress over shocking details that have come to light in reference to Bhima Koregaon violence

New Delhi:The BJP on Thursday lashed out against the Congress Party after the Pune Police said it had laid its hands on Maoists documents that suggest alleged Congress links with those involved in Bhima-Koregaon violence in which an innocent youth was killed in January this year.
Addressing a press conference, BJP national Spokesman Sambit Patra referred to an internal communication of a banned CPI (Maoist) organisation and said the letter “strips Congress of every shred of modesty and exposes it as never before’’.

Demanding a reply from Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Mr Patra said, “The Congress party’s hunger for power has been exposed.’’

The Pune police also said it had on its radar Independent Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani who has reportedly been named in the letter as a “go-between’’. Mevani, was reportedly present at Elgaar Parishad – an event to mark the 200th year of the Battle of Bhima-Koregaon which turned violent.

Alleging that Dalits had been used as a “tool’’, Mr Patra said the letter incriminates the Congress Party and encapsulates “a conspiracy to subvert the Constitution and democracy’’.

“This was a manufactured agitation with the idea to spread mayhem in the country,’’ he charged and repeated “Rahul Gandhi must reply.’’

Referring to the letter (sent for verification by police), Mr Patra said that the intention was to stop the Modi Juggernaut in 2019.’’

“It is astonishing, shocking and shameful and we condemn it,’’ he said.
