Runway closure: AAI mulls more chairs, self check counters, entry gates at Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: As reported earlier, the Ahmedabad airport runway will be closed during 9 am to 7 pm for resurfacing work between 1st March and 15th April following which all flights will operate early in the morning or late in the evening during this period. The Airport Authority of India(AAI) is mulling 13 new self checking counters, additional entry gates in domestic terminal, more chairs in sitting area to accommodate the extra rush during mornings and evenings. AAI had spent Rs 29 crore about one and half year ago for resurfacing of same runway. AAI claims the runway suffered damage due to heavy rainfall last monsoon.
