Rebels making trouble for Congress in three Muslim populated seats of East Ahmedabad
November 29, 2017
Ahmedabad: Jamalpur constituency in wall city Ahmedabad has over 60% Muslim population but due to division of votes between two Muslim candidates BJP candidate Bhushan Bhatt was declared victorious in year 2012 assembly polls. While BJP has again given ticket to Bhushan Bhatt, the Congress party has fielded independent young Councillor Imran Khedawala. Former Congress MLA Sabie Kabliwala is fighting the election as independent while Congress leaders like Badruddin Sheikh and Vajirkhan Pathan among others are sulking as they are denied ticket. It is believed that if there’s division of votes again this time, the BJP candidate will surely benefit from it.
In another Muslim populated constituency Dariyapur in Ahmedabad, sitting Congress MLA Gyasuddin Sheikh is facing trouble due to rebel Congress candidate Rahu Momin who is former Councillor. Momin is fighting the poll as independent.
Another seat that has mixture of Dalit and Muslim population is Danilimda. This seat is reserved for schedule caste candidate. Congress has again fielded sitting BJP MLA Shailesh Parmar on this seat but he is facing threat of division of votes due to rebel candidate Jamna Vegda who is sitting woman Councillor.
