Rajkot: Virpur town near Rajkot is celebrating 217th birth anniversary of Jalaram Bapa today.

Jalaram Bapa was born on 14 November 1799 in Virpur.

197 years ago he started offering free meal through ‘Sadavrat’ to all those visiting his ashram on Mahasud Bij 1876 as per Gujarati calendar.

For last 197 years, the ‘Sadavrat’ he started has been functioning without missing a single day.

There were phase like Chhappaniyo Dukal(historical famine), flood, earthquake but ‘Sadavrat’ has continued to function without break.

The ‘Sadavrat’ received so much donation that for last 16 years no new donation is accepted.
