Rajkot: After former Lok Sabha MP Jagdish Thakor, another Gujarat Congress leader is sulking. He is former Lok Sabha MP Kunvarji Bavalia.
While Jagdish Thakor comes from Thakor community that has good presence in North Gujarat, Kuvarji Bavalia comes from Koli community that has good presence in Saurashtra region.
Bavalia said, “when zone level appointments are made, Koli community has been completely ignored by State party leadership. Not a single name from Koli community has been found in zone level appointments. I don’t claim that I should be appointed, but anyone from Koli community in Saurashtra should be appointed by party and that’s my demand, or otherwise there’s great anger among community people. Koli community leaders from all over Saurashtra will come together and do something new. I have been working for Congress party for many years in Saurashtra, but party is not taking note.”
Bavalia supporters have started announcing resignations from Congress party’s positions in Rajkot rural which is strong-hold of Bavalia.
Meanwhile, after Jagdish Thakor’s resignation yesterday on which he ha snot given any official statement, his supporters have also submitted resignation. A group of Thakor community people was seen shouting slogans in support of Jagdish Thakor at Patan. Over 100 supporters have resigned from Congress party in support of Thakor.
