Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday visited Gujarat government run Civil hospital in Ahmedabad. He held meeting with hospital Superintendent Mr MM Prabhakar.
Though the hospital is run by Gujarat government, it any day attracts large number of patients from rural Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Scores of patients from these neighboring states visit Civil hospital in Ahmedabad for better and cheap medical treatment, free in most of the cases.
Private bus operators operate buses connecting Civil hospital in Ahmedabad to towns in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to carry needy patients and their relatives. A special bus-stop is functional near Civil hospital for such buses.
Gehlot who met Superintendent Prabhakar for an hour or so expressed displeasure about poor state of affairs at hospitals in rural Rajasthan, due to which most of the needy patients have to move to Ahmedabad for further/better treatment.
