The Gujarat government has formed a committee comprising a total of five ministers headed by Education minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasma to study the situation caused by less than normal rainfall during monsoon this year and make recommendations with regard to the areas to be declared fully or partially drought hit if the need be.
Gujarat has received around 81% rain of total average monsoon rain this year.
The committee formed by government also has 15 secretaries as its members including chief secretary G R Aloria.
Four other ministers in the committee are Saurabh Patel, Babubhai Bokhiriya, Shankar Chaudhary and Tarachand Chheda.
The committee members would take stock of the situation with regard to the availability of fodder and drinking water.
Despite three spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall during this season with Kutch and North Gujarat crossing 100 percent mark, the average rainfall in the state is still below normal.
