Ahmedabad
He was once a very popular cop. He was popular due to consistent record of operations he had successfully conducted against criminals in his career. He was popular for his integrity, his skill to deal with criminals and his honesty. A police officer from humble background in Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad who gunned down Abdul Latif and thus ended the history of organized gangs in Ahmedabad, who was placed in inner ring of then Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s personal security on his visits to Ahmedabad, who was instrumental in bringing peace in riot-hit wall city area of Ahmedabad city in year 2002, was sent to jail in Sadiq Jamal encounter case. It is hardly unknown how BJP-ruled Gujarat police officers were singled out and targeted by central investigation agency under then Congress-led UPA government due to political reasons. As Tarun Barot was released on bail by CBI court in Ahmedabad, his supporters were jubilant. Shri Barot was given hero’s welcome at Bapunagar. Barot’s release is morale boosting development for Gujarat Police cadres. It is just a matter of time when he will regain his uniform and get due promotions. Photographs of procession to welcome him at home are attached to this article:
