Toilet at home mandatory for panchayat/sarpanch candidature :GoG

Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister of Gujarat today took made changes to Gujarat Panchayat Adhiniyam 1993 and decided that a candidate for district, taluka panchayat, sarpanch election has to have toilet in his house.
According to Gujarat government spokespersons, the state cabinet has approved a law through notification to make it mandatory to have toilet at home for candidature in district, taluka, gram panchayat election and for the post of sarpanch. One who hasn’t toilet at home will be disqualified as candidate.
Even existing office bearers will need to build toilet in six months period after the law is effective. They will need to produce a certificate in six month issued by gram panchayat mantri before Taluka Vikas Adhikari(TDO).
