Two PPP Railway project generate profit

The Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today shared details of Public Private Partnership(PPP) projects under Railways running on profit. Two of them are in Gujarat.
The Minister in his reply said: Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects operating under Indian Railways are: (i) Surendranagar-Pipavav Gauge Conversion Project, (ii) Hassan-Mangalore Gauge Conversion Project, (iii) Gandhidham-Palanpur Gauge Conversion Project, (iv) Bharuch-Dahej Gauge Conversion Project, (v) Obulavaripalle-Krishnapatnam New Line phase-I.
As per balance sheet of the companies who have implemented the projects, the following projects have shown profit for the year 2012-13:
•Surendranagar-Pipavav Gauge conversion Project implemented by Pipavav Railway Corporation Ltd. (PRCL) has generated a profit of Rs. 46.41 crores.
•Hassan-Mangalore Gauge Conversion Project implemented by Hassan-Mangalore Rail Development Company Ltd. (HMRDC) has generated a profit of Rs. 8.28 crores.
•Gandhidham-Palanpur Gauge conversion Project implemented by Kutch Railway Company Ltd. (KRC) has generated a profit of Rs. 175.9 crores.
