Gujarat’s Ahmedabad has become the first district in entire country where all 45,14,607 registered voters will soon have now their voter identity cards. This detail was shared by district collector Vijay Nehra.
The district contains 21 assembly segments with 5,000 booths.
“As we have photographs of all the voters now, there will be no chance of bogus voting in Ahmedabad district in Gujarat Assembly elections 2012, because presiding officer will have voters list with photographs,” Nehra said.
Nehra gave credit of this achievement to citizens, booth level officers and other staff who visited each house to complete the task. Nehra said the election commission will provide sleep with photograph to voters this time ahead of the Gujarat assembly elections.
He said the data work is complete and issuance of photo id cards to fresh two lakh applicants will take place in the month of September.
