Gandhinagar, 18 October, 2011
Gujarat Agriculture minister shri Dilip Sanghani has written a letter to central Agriculture minister shir Sharad Pawar protesting against centre’s allocation of only 22800 mt DAP fertilizer to Gujarat against state’s need of 1.20 lakh mt of same.
Sanghani in his letter said that Gujarat had good monsoon this year and as reservoirs under irrigated area have 95% level of water, there is good opportunity of winter crops in 40 lakh ha land. However, with motive to push Gujarat’s farmers to economic disaster centre has supplied only 22800 mt DAP against the need of 120000 mt DAP. This will break the morals of farmers of Gujarat.
Sanghani also mentioned in his letter that in Kharif 2011 period between April 2011 to September 2011, while farmers of Gujarat were actually needing 4,80,000 mt DAP, they were supplied 1,27,000 mt lesser fertilizer.
Sanghani termed lesser supply of fertilizer for winter as one more chapter in continuous injustice to the state. Sanghani in his letter warned the centre that Gujarat’s farmers will not tolerate injustice.
