Gujarat government has questioned the method of appointing Lokayukta, but here in this video you would see the method of announcement of appointment of Lokayukta.

In the morning a group of state Congress leaders and their supporters met at Gandhinagar’s Circuit house under the leadership of state opposition leader in assembly Shr Shaktisinh Gohil.

After a brief meet, the group started walking towards the Governor house (Rajbhavan) in Gandhinagar with loud slogans: “Karnatak mein Yedurappa, Gujarat mein Modirappa.”

Their slogan was showing what their intentions were. They wanted to bring Lokpal to topple Narendra Modi from the post of Chief Minister. It is known fact that Modi is otherwise difficult to remove through politically or other means.

In few minutes, the Congressmen reached Raj Bhavan and met the Governor.

After meeting the Governor, the leader of opposition came out with other leaders and announced that the Governor told them that she had appointed Lokayukta a day earlier in the evening.

So we can sum up it like this: Governor appoints Lokayukta and opposition leader makes an announcement of that. So is there anything like government of Gujarat existing here?

The government said in the High Court that there’s no other instance in the history where Lokayukta was appointed in this manner. General practice is that the general administration department(GAD) issues a letter of appointment of Lokayukta appointed by Governor.
